Finally: Handy-Signatur has migrated to ID Austria!

Everyone has been talking about it for a while, now it's a reality: ID Austria has gone into full operation.

This means that an ID Austria is required to use eGovernment services or eServices from the business world. But don't worry: the switchover process with an existing Handy-Signatur is straightforward and can be completed in a matter of minutes at any time. Users are simply redirected to a website the next time they try to log in, where the existing certificate (the former Handy-Signatur) can be converted into an ID Austria Basic in just a few steps.

It is still possible to issue qualified electronic signatures in the usual way with your existing certificate - e.g. via the A-Trust account or PDF Sign.

By the way: The A-Trust Signature App can also be used with ID Austria to trigger the second factor, for example via biometrics, but also via the device PIN. Those who prefer to use the ID Austria independently of a smartphone will find a secure and convenient alternative for triggering the second factor in the Webshop: FIDO tokens compatible with the ID Austria. All information about the different (also biometric-free) options for two-factor authentication can be found in the following news article.
